Job Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Environment Artist who is ready to work on the cutting edge of game graphics technology. We let our creativity go wild and combine that with technical skill to bring beautiful worlds to life. This position requires a high level of artistry and mastery of tools to achieve the best environmental results in an open world game. You will own the visual composition from the player perspective; from block out to set dressing and polish, and will need to combine a strong aesthetic sense of visually interesting places with a solid understanding of level design.

Illuvium Labs is an independent game development studio based in Sydney, Australia. We develop blockchain based games for the Illuvium DAO. We have developed a strong culture of independence with our team, preferring candidates who can articulate their own vision and goals. We operate almost entirely remotely so each team member designs their own hours and work schedule. In the end all that matters is the delivered product. Responsibilities

  • Creating locations to provide the best player experience supporting attractive environment storytelling with interesting set dressing
  • Creating original stylized textures through the use of various tools and middleware
  • Define immersive lighting & environmental effects for your location
  • Cooperating with the Art Director and Art Leads to maintain artistic consistency and vision for the game, while building stellar levels and scenes
  • Cooperating with tech art team setting up materials and shaders to achieve the best possible quality
  • Cooperating effectively with Level Designers, Quest and Story Team in creating unforgettable player experience locations
  • Maintaining the production pipeline and meeting deadlines
  • Putting finishing touches on locations and cutscenes with existing meshes and decals

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience working in the video games industry on at least one AAA title
  • Excellent skills in one of the leading modelling packages (3DS Max, Maya, Blender etc.) and Photoshop
  • Great sense of scale, proportions, composition
  • Good knowledge about color theory and basic lighting techniques
  • Knowledge of physically based rendering (PBR)
  • Experience with procedural content creation packages is a plus (Substance, Houdini, World Machine) - Creativity and an excellent eye for detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Fluent English
