Job Description

Gameloft Montreal is seeking a new Level designer to join the team for Disney Dreamlight Valley, a cross-platform project (PC and console) hybrid between a life simulator and an adventure game rich in quests, exploration and exciting activities featuring Disney and Pixar friends, both old and new.

Highly awaited by gamers all around the world, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a 100%-original Gameloft Montreal production, designed by a passionate team that are just waiting for you to join them!

From the beginning of your adventure with us, you will be tasked with

The Level Designer will work with the Game Designer to implement all interactive elements in the game, as well as define the architecture and content of each level. The Level Designer must ensure that the game levels properly use the gameplay elements defined in the game design. After the design phase, the Level Designer will be responsible for integrating the game levels scripted events, enemy placement and general production.

  • Creating a level-design document and keeping it up to date
  • Preparing a list of requirements to build a level
  • Creating a blockout environment
  • Integrating gameplay elements in a level
  • Integrating enemies in a level
  • Creating basic scripts with visual scripting tools
  • Applying modifications to work projects as requested by the team lead, mentor, or creative director
  • Fixing bugs reported by the Testing team
  • Collaborating with the Art team to ensure that the levels have the highest visual quality while maintaining an engaging and distinctive playability
  • Mastering development tools (game engines, 2D/3D software, Git, Jira)

Qualifications

Experience And Qualifications

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in the video game industry in a game, quest, or level designer role
  • Specific experience as a quest designer is an asset
  • Experience working on at least one other game, from the production phase to launch
  • Console and/or mobile experience
  • Deep knowledge of the video-game industry
  • Knowledge of video-game mechanics
  • Overall vision and logical approach
  • Analytical nature
  • Creative
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player
  • Fluency in French/English is an asset
