Overview We are seeking a contract Tracking / Motion-Capture Engineer to work with motion-capture systems, supporting various tracking-related tasks (e.g., head or full-body tracking) for audio/acoustic data collection, experimentation, and demo design. An interest in audio signal processing, audio hardware systems, and acoustics is a plus.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, build, and maintain robust optical tracking systems for motion capture within larger experimental setups, including marker-based and non-marker-based tracking.

  • Troubleshoot and repair tracking systems (optical and other) as needed to maintain experiment throughput.

  • Develop methods for storing and assessing tracking data, iterating on system design and configuration to improve data quality and capacity.

  • Perform other systems-related engineering and lab setup work as required.

Must-Have Skills

  • 3+ years of academic or industry experience with OptiTrack (preferred), Vicon, or other systems and accompanying software.

  • Familiarity with motion capture technology and systems for both skeleton and rigid-body tracking.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Interest in audio signal processing, audio hardware systems, and acoustics.

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++.

  • Experience with RGBD tracking.

  • Experience with synchronizing multimodal sensor data.

  • Experience with writing software for receiving, parsing, and utilizing streaming motion-capture data.

  • Experience with rigid-body marker design (active and passive) for simultaneous tracking of large numbers of rigid bodies.

  • Experience with full-body tracking methods.

Degrees/Certifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, e.g., electrical engineering or computer science preferred, is not required.
