We are looking for a Manager to lead the Competitive Gaming Analytics team based in Redwood Shores, supporting teams across the division. You will work together with division leaders and analysts to determine the value of competitive gaming at EA, inform strategic game design and feature decisions, and improve the viewing experience. You will help stakeholders define viewership metrics to use for eSports-related content, educate them to better understand the analyses, and provide actionable recommendations.

You will be working closely with diverse teams including League Operations and Management, Commercialization, Broadcast, as well as Analytics team members in Marketing Analytics and Studio Analytics. This is a leadership role that will be responsible for driving influence across different functions, and for mentoring, developing and leading a team of analysts on projects across a wide range of franchises and business models. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Marketing Analytics within EA’s Marketing and Commercial Insights organization.

What a Manager of Esports Analytics does at EA:

  • Leads a team of analysts by providing guidance, development and mentorship
  • Establishes relationships and influences key stakeholders across Competitive Gaming Division and Executive team using top quality insights
  • Uses strong business sense to help senior stakeholders shape their questions and translates business questions into measurable metrics and actionable steps
  • Builds and manages a roadmap of valuable projects and tracks the performance to best achieve overall organizational goals
  • Communicates clearly (and as often as needed) with team members and stakeholders, providing direction on best practices and business expectations
  • Presents conclusions to stakeholders in a clear, understandable, and valuable way
  • Finds new opportunities to explore data to improve the player experience, improve the product, drive incremental revenue and/or reduce costs across all portfolio
  • Prioritizes opportunities for analysts based on business impact and timeline, and allocates resources accordingly
  • Drives collaboration across Studio Analytics, Data Science, Marketing Analytics, Consumer Insights, and User Experience Research
  • Documents past and present analysis projects, methodologies, and conclusions. Encourages knowledge sharing across teams

Background:

  • BS or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field (MS preferred)
  • 5+ years of professional experience with demonstrated experience applying analytics to real world problems
  • 3-5 years of experience in a consumer products-oriented industry; gaming, entertainment, or e-commerce is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of managing teams of data scientists and/or analysts with technical background
  • Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize with people at various levels of business and technical expertise, including the ability to simplify difficult technical concepts
  • Solid understanding of statistics and modeling to understand the work, ask the right questions and provide guidance to analysts
  • Experience with experimental design and the determination of the statistical significance of findings
  • Proficiency with MS office (Excel and Powerpoint) and / or Google docs equivalents
  • Experience in advertising and sponsorship revenue attribution and/or financial planning is a plus
  • Experience with viewership and/or audience insights is a strong plus
  • Extensive knowledge/interest with EA Sports’ franchises (e.g. Madden or FIFA) is a plus
