- Turn design ideas into clear flows, rules, requirements, and design documentation.
- Participate in brainstorming and design discussions, contributing ideas for new mechanics, features, events, and player experiences.
- Playtest features and content, identify design problems, gather feedback, and iterate on solutions.
- Work with designers, engineers, artists, experience designers, product managers, analysts, and QA to take ideas from concept toward implementation.
- Use player feedback, game data, and design principles to understand how features can be improved.
- Support balancing gameplay, progression, rewards, difficulty, and other game systems.
- Research games and competitors to understand design patterns, player motivations, market trends, and opportunities for innovation.
- Contribute to live-service content such as events, challenges, progression experiences, or other recurring player activities.
- Explore how emerging tools, including AI-assisted workflows, can help improve ideation, research, prototyping, documentation, and iteration.
What You Bring
- A foundational understanding of game design principles, including gameplay loops, player motivation, progression, balance, feedback, challenge, and reward.
- Strong interest in building games and understanding why players find experiences engaging and fun.
- Creative and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly through written documentation, diagrams, presentations, or prototypes.
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback and iteration.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with people from different disciplines.
- Currently pursuing a degree/diploma in Game Design, Game Development, Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent skills through personal or academic projects.
- A portfolio, playable project, prototype, game jam project, level, system design, or other game-design work that demonstrates your thinking and interest in game development.
Nice to Have
- Experience building games through personal projects, college projects, game jams, mods, or internships.
- Familiarity with mobile or free-to-play games and concepts such as progression, economies, engagement, retention, and live events.
- Experience using Unity or Unreal to implement prototype gameplay.
