Discord is looking for a highly technical, creative, motivated and mission-focused Staff Engineer to help scale our technology and revenue products. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap for the revenue platform, services and subscription products at Discord. You will work with teams across the organization such as Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Finance and Customer Success to ensure that the technical strategy maps to the revenue vision of Discord.

What you'll do
- Collaborate with leadership and senior engineers on the team to build and iterate on technical roadmap for revenue platform and products.
- Research, design, and build key new parts of the platform. You will scrutinize and reason clearly on technology and architecture choices, identify tradeoffs and challenges, and get buy-in from the rest of the team.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other staff engineers and stakeholders across the organization to ensure technical alignment to other systems, products and vision.
- Leverage your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar and ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we set .
- Partner with Product, Finance and Customer Success to improve processes and workflows. Deliver experiments on new workflows, systems and iterate based on feedback.
- Advise the leadership team on key technical considerations related to the future of Revenue & Reporting products from the platform perspective.
- Coach and mentor the next generation of technical leaders at Discord.
- Partner with Revenue leadership on strategic planning and continuously improve our systems and processes while upholding our workplace philosophy .
Who you are
- You have 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
- You are data driven, customer focused and find satisfaction in building products to help others be more effective.
- You have a strong product sense, maintain a high degree of empathy for your internal and external users and seek feedback from them about your work
- You approach problems with first principles. You are comfortable with ambiguity and get excited about working collaboratively to figure out solutions to complex problems, and then executing on them.
- You love experimentation and get excited when numbers move by 1%.
- You know how to strike a balance between speed and quality of features to create durable technology. You follow a test driven development methodology and thrive on building scalable systems that are robust, failure-resistant and easy to maintain.
- You keep up with the industry trends and can assess new technologies that can help us better solve problems.
