THE OPPORTUNITY

The Programmer, Generalist/UI position is instrumental in building out exciting game systems and backend systems to bring our team’s vision to life for our players in the Programming department for DCUO at Dimensional Ink Studios reporting to the Lead Programmer.

This Position Will Be Responsible For

  • Collaborating side by side with designers, artists, and programmers, to design, implement and iterate game systems (e.g. combat, AI, quests, items, etc.)
  • Building and maintaining tools for development
  • Regularly play test and provide feedback on the game
  • Work with programming team

What Craft Expertise You’ll Have

  • Tools/Technology /Knowledge
    • Required: Strong C++ programming ability, development for console and PC
    • Desired: Unreal 3
  • Craft Experience
    • Required: Solid understanding of asynchronous programming techniques and pitfalls, Ability to analyze game designer requests and iterate with designers to deliver implementations that are fun and engaging while still being robust and performant
    • Desired: Unreal experience (especially using C++), Experience building data driven game systems, Hands on experience implementing game systems for server based multiplayer games, Experience playing/developing action combat based games, Strong plus: familiarity with rendering pipelines and writing shaders

Other Criteria

  • Experience
    • Degree: B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience
    • Years of Experience: 5+ years game programming preferred
    • Desired: Strong experience developing for a live product, 1 shipped MMO, Action or RPG title preferred

    • Proven ability to manage time, self-organize, and meet deadlines
    • Strong communication
    • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
