Responsibilities

Under the administrative direction of the Vice President of Student Life, and the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Head Coach and Coordinator of Esports is responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of starting a competitive collegiate Esports program. The incumbent must fulfill these duties while adhering to the Mission, Vision, and values of Concordia University Chicago, the policies and regulations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, as well as National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to develop students both academically and athletically.
  • Schedules and provides instruction for all practices, competitions, and events within University an NACE guidelines.
  • Instructs, teaches, and coaches students during practice and competition.
  • Provides leadership and direction to students, community members, and support personnel.
  • Identifies, evaluates and recruits potential team members to Concordia University Chicago in accordance with University and NACE policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates recruitment and scholarship activities with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Responsible for scheduling, budget control, public relations, program promotions, academic support, and retention of students.
  • Effectively plan and implement Esports events in a complex environment with multiple campus centers, a traditional higher education setting, and online learning.
  • Responsible for the orientation of student to the College and NACE guidelines.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports in a timely manner; particularly regarding budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, uniforms

Minimum Experience Required

  • 3-5 years experience in competitive gaming
  • Esport Coaching experience preferred
  • Current player ranking in selected gaming titles and knowledge of relevant strategies, playing patterns, and dynamics of competitive play.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
