DiRT Rally is one of the most highly rated and recognised motor-sport simulation titles out there and embodies everything that makes Codemasters one of the best AAA studios that it is today after being in the business for over 30 years.

Based in our impressive Southam studio, the team are looking for a Lead level Physics Programmer to join them at an exciting time, as the team transition from finishing work on DiRT Rally 2 and look ahead to what’s coming next.

One thing is certain, the next project will continue to deliver a best-in-class racing experience.

Embedded into the programming team, this role will work closely with the vehicle-handling experts and our in-house professional drivers to create more of the authentic and visceral experiences this studio and team has become famous for.

The real-feel experience wraps the player up in a dynamic world of high-octane stimulus and response through the behaviour of countless physical elements, all of which require meticulous physics algorithms. Our teams are highly collaborative and always keep abreast of cutting-edge programming techniques and advancements. Having our own in-house engine and tools development means that our coders are able to get to rare new depths of software expertise.

This role will offer a high level of autonomy to really “push the envelope” regarding all things Physics based and represents a genuinely exciting opportunity when it comes to creating complex, uncompromising and quality code.

Required:

  • Have delivered a full cycle AAA as a physics programmer
  • Experience of developing multiple platform games
  • Expert level C++
  • Experience working on medium to large scale games
  • Deep knowledge of internal workings of game physics engines
  • Advanced maths and 3d geometry
  • Proven experience balancing realism with gameplay and performance requirements
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded programming

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Vehicles, Entity systems or Animation
  • Experience of professional level C#
  • Degree in physics/computer science/mathematics/engineering
