Cheddar is looking for a hardworking and creative Associate Producer to develop segments for our live esports show, Cheddar Sports. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for esports and gaming, with a focus on industry trends, culture, personalities, and competitions. The Associate Producer will be responsible for writing news updates and summaries, researching topics for guest segments, creating relevant and attention-grabbing show elements including b-roll, graphics, and lower thirds, writing clear and concise tease and intro scripts and pitching esports-focused story ideas. The AP will work closely with segment and line producers as they develop content and execute live programming. Applicants should also have experience in a live-studio control room, running prompter, creating rundowns, and managing appropriate equipment. This role requires you to manage multiple tasks at one time, without compromising details. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and independent worker who is comfortable with varied schedules. At the same time, he or she must be adaptable and flexible, a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small, scrappy and highly collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Write esports news hits and updates for Cheddar Sports and our partners
  • Assist segment and line producers with research and writing for show segments and guest interviews (3-4 per day)
  • Build show graphics and elements in rundown software
  • Generate exceptional story ideas and segment ideas
  • Fact check, proofread, and ensure important details meet quality standards
  • Fill in for segment producers and production assistants during absences

Required Experience:

  • Passion for esports and the esports community
  • 2+ years experience in live production and journalism
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong grammar, copy editing and communication skills.
  • Business and financial news writing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with ENPS or similar rundown program
  • Working knowledge of production and post-production techniques
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
