Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is a new position supporting the growth of Bungie and the rapidly-evolving accounting function. In this role, you will have primary responsibility for various monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting and closing tasks, ad-hoc project work, and other areas as needed.
During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility for recording monthly platform revenue estimates as well as a reconciliation to subsequent royalty reporting in accordance with ASC 606 accounting principles
- Recording of staffing cost allocations to ensure proper project cost attribution on a monthly basis
- Deferral and recognition of revenues and expenses in accordance with contract terms
- Actively training on and supporting the implementation of a new ERP system to improve and automate Bungie’s accounting and close processes
- Creation of process documentation during and post- ERP implementation as well as supporting the identification and testing of key controls within various business processes
- Timely and accurate recording of capitalized software journal entries to ensure proper development expense recognition
- Perform accurate and timely assigned reconciliations as part of monthly accounting close cycle for a variety of standard and non-standard transactions
- Create accurate and useful financial reporting based on evolving business needs and Finance/Company goals
- Research and recommendations around applicable new GAAP and tax compliance issues
- Support financial statement and other audit engagements in ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements
- Assist with maintaining multi-state tax provision schedules and tax to book reconciliations
- Ensure tax, business, and regulatory filings are scheduled and completed timely
- Cross-train on and back up of various processes within the accounting function
- Accounting and tax/regulatory filings for Bungie’s non-profit entity
- Assist with equity incentive program tracking and tasks
- Other ad hoc projects as required
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Relevant and progressive work experience
- Strong GAAP and tax knowledge
- Advanced Excel skills
- Detail-oriented, analytical and obsessed with accuracy
- Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
- Ability to work well independently on complex and ambiguous tasks within a small team
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Customer service oriented in all internal and external interactions
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree
- CPA
- Experience with Workday, MS Dynamics/Great Plains and Management Reporter, or other modern accounting ERP systems
- Experience with systems implementation
- Broad experience in accounting function beyond G/L, including payroll, accounts payable and equity management
- Knowledgeable about the games industry
