Writer, Creative Development - Temp
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented and expert writer to join the Creative Development team. Your realm of responsibility will focus on screenwriting, dialog writing for games, comics, short fiction, and general collaborative story development. Have you already shown success as an animation writer or screenwriter, extraordinary people skills, experience in a writers' room setting, and an absolute passion to tell great stories in various cinematic mediums? Then, you are the hero we’re looking for.
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Responsibilities:
- Take a lead role in the development of Blizzard Entertainment's intellectual properties, focused on animated content and game writing
- Create original story and series concepts for Blizzard Entertainment's intellectual properties
- Contribute to IP development for all of Blizzard Entertainment's franchises
- Work with internal development teams to evolve Blizzard Entertainment's intellectual properties and expand them to various media types
- Work closely with storyboard artists, directors, development executives, and creative directors to develop epic entertainment experiences
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry or related-industry experience as a screenwriter or story editor, delivering content for a major IP
- Successfully produced writing work, preferably in genre content
- Thorough knowledge of the story-development process
- Excellent written and oral business-communication skills
- Real passion for Blizzard Entertainment's intellectual properties
- Vast knowledge of successful intellectual properties in today's popular culture
- Good understanding of narrative design
- You thrive in a team environment, communicating creative initiatives across production stages
- Ability to produce writing without constant supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under deadlines
Pluses:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Enthusiasm for video and/or table top games
