The ideal candidate has experience in software and/or game release management experience at a global scale. They have a proven ability to evaluate, implement, and iterate on software deployment best practices. The candidate should have experience coordinating and communicating current release planning and status, including evaluation of release readiness from a Quality Assurance perspective. Additionally, this role is expected to manage live deploy issues during the live support windows.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, recruit, coach, and manage a team of 4 towards individual and team excellence

  • Partner and provide high value quality and release-related services to development leadership

  • Accountable for the quality of all work and relationships on their team

  • Drive test development, estimation, planning, execution, reporting, and closure

  • Coordinate responsible test area with regional teams

  • Project manage schedules for responsible test area and maintain

  • Create, monitor, and control metrics impacting product and team quality

  • Analyze product quality and usability, associated system limitations, and report on risk

  • Host test closure activities; e.g. testware evaluation, knowledge transfer, retrospectives

  • Lead, connect, and partner with teams across Blizzard towards quality initiatives.

  • Develop training materials for project team and lead workshops for test leadership, requirements gathering, and risk identification

  • Coach and develop leadership talent across the department for succession planning

  • Champion and influence software development best practices and the customer experience always

  • Vendor management and coordination of test activities

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • Management experience: 5+ years

  • Shipped multiple game titles as a test lead

  • Experience with white/gray/black box and automation test methods

  • Demonstrated experience in test planning for complex features/systems

  • Certification in any of the following: PMP, Scrum Master, ISTQB-ATM

  • Passion for video games and software quality

Pluses

  • Coding knowledge: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL

  • Familiarity with Blizzard Entertainment line of products and services

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $77,760.00 - $143,920.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
