Pull up a chair and join us by the hearth!! Blizzard is looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to join the Hearthstone team. Our team values creativity, collaboration and a commitment to quality and we are searching for experienced creatives to add to our team of talented game makers.

As a Senior Narrative Designer, you will help us shape and deliver the narrative vision for upcoming Hearthstone sets. You will collaborate with an internal multidisciplinary team and external partners to ensure that our storytelling delivers on player fantasy, honors the Warcraft IP, and engages a world-wide audience. As with every design role at Blizzard, you will be a champion of Blizzard's commitment to delivering world class quality.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work required to be on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to craft memorable set themes and characters that seamlessly integrate into the rest of the player experience

  • Champion writing that resonates with a global audience, and is inclusive of diverse views and perspectives

  • Writing and directing voice actor performances

  • Develop high quality hero skins that expand upon and celebrate well known characters from the Warcraft franchise

  • Write and maintain documentation for characters and lore

  • Hold a high quality bar; reviewing and providing constructive feedback on written materials such as scripts, flavor text, and marketing materials

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a professional Narrative Designer/Game Writer, or a combination of applicable training and experience

  • Strong background in game narrative process

  • Experience with writing and dialogue editing within game or localization tools

Key Attributes

  • Strong creative vision and exceptional written and verbal skills to champion that vision

  • Understanding of licensing and brand management best practices

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to write and implement content independently

  • Effortless collaborator with a player and team first mindset.

  • Comfortable with using proprietary tools to implement narrative content

Extra Points

Experience

  • Experience with writing for AAA games

  • Experience working with voice actors and voice directors to help bring the most to a character’s voice and performance.

  • Published writing (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics, etc)

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Warcraft universe

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
