Blizzard is seeking an experienced community manager with a strong focus on creating editorial community content and messaging. As part of the Overwatch Community Development org, this person will play an instrumental part in shaping the voice of the development team to the community by creating messaging that speaks to players who are passionate about the development of the game. They are also an experienced communicator, working closely with both the development and publishing team to build community trust and sentiment.

The ideal candidate is a curious and efficient self-starter with a growth mindset, who understands the editorial process in a rigorous live operations environment and has a proven track record as a high functioning individual contributor in a large-scale gaming community role.

Responsibilities

  • Ideate, validate, and create plans to execute on editorial content that resonates with the broader Overwatch community. This can take the form of blog articles, “Developer Update” style video scripts, emergent issue messaging, and more.
  • Create content that is inclusive, speaking to our entire community.
  • Engage with the community, especially around the content you create, across multiple channels, including the official forums, reddit, and Discord.
  • Be a committed editorial presence, ensuring that all player facing content is consistent with the tone and voice of both the brand and the development team.
  • Build trusted relationships throughout the organization that better informs the content you create and your community engagement. Be collaborative.
  • Through an understanding of performance data, iterate and improve upon previous executions, while providing reporting and visibility to the publishing org.
  • Build relationships with creators and community influencers that will benefit your editorial content strategy.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to the development team through contribution to regular reports and updates.

Player Profile

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in either community management or community development for a major games franchise.
  • Experience working directly with development teams, and a keen understanding of the development process.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as an individual contributor to a publishing organization that operates at scale.
  • Minimum two years’ experience creating editorial or fan site community content.
  • Minimum two years of contributing to the editorial process for player facing communications.
  • Familiarity with the Overwatch franchise
  • Familiarity of modern CMS systems and publishing tools.
  • A record of creating successful content plans and taking them from ideation to execution.
  • Able to work live events and flexible hours to meet community needs.
