Responsibilities

Your Daily Life at Bethesda Game Studios

As Technical Director, you would be primarily responsible for bridging the gap between the game’s artistic/creative vision and its technical implementation for quarterly and yearly major releases as well as making sure we continue to run a stable secure service. You will also be responsible for...

  • Mentoring, training, and growth of engineering team for Fallout 76

  • Risk management on new development and running the service

  • Prioritization and scoping with production on new initiatives for Fallout 76

  • Technical reviews of internal and external (contractor-based) initiatives

  • Day to day technical oversight of the live service

  • Working to identify hiring needs with production and recruiting as well as interviewing candidates

  • Triage of technical issues with the service and for upcoming releases

  • Playing Fallout 76 on a regular basis

Qualifications

What Makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

  • You have a B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent

  • You have prior leadership experience managing technical game teams

  • You have been the lead of a technical discipline in game development (Gameplay, Graphics, Systems/Server)

  • You have experience with multiplayer game systems and the complexities of networked gameplay

  • You have familiarity with cloud tech, DevOps, databases, and backend infrastructure to be able to run a persistent game service

  • You possess strong organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with non-engineers and leadership

  • You have experience playing Bethesda Game Studios games

  • You have experience playing similar games to Fallout 76

  • You work well under pressure and multitask with ease

Salary Range

Technical Director - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $160,000 - $360,000 per year.

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
