Aquiris is looking for a passionate Principal Concept Artist with proven experience in leading art teams and creating stylized cartoon characters and environments to work in the Looney Tunes World of Mayhem mobile game.Your primary activities will be to create Looney Tunes designs (classic toons and brand new toons that are exclusive to the game), produce and oversee the production of high quality art assets, mentor concept artists in the studio and outsourcing partners, and work with the Art Director and Art Producer on maintaining and improving documentation and pipeline planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Art Director and WB in the investigation and definition of the creative vision for all new characters and features in the project;
  • Be a technical reference for the entire art team, defining the artistic benchmarks;
  • Be able to produce high quality 2D artwork such as character designs, backgrounds, props and skill icons, App Icon and other 2D assets following the established art direction;
  • Be able to produce material to be implemented in Unity according to the technical specifications of the project;
  • Direct the work of Concept Artists, Tech Artists and 3D Modelers clearly and assertively through written or visual guidelines, documentation or paintovers;
  • Manage and develop the Concept Art team, creating career paths and being responsible for the growth of the Concept Artists, focusing on training and talent retention;
  • Mentor the 2D artwork of outsourced artists, providing quick and appropriate feedbacks to partner's technical limitations and production pipeline;
  • Define and enhance pipelines and art processes suited to the particularities of each task involving the Concept Art team, helping the team to maintain the standards already established;
  • Great communication skills, facilitating conversations between Concept Art and other development areas;
  • Great organizational skills, being able to work on several fronts at the same time, organizing your time and demands focused on results, always giving visibility to the Art Director and Art Producer.

Requirements

  • Advanced fundamentals of illustration and drawing, such as shape, composition, perspective, lights and color theory;
  • Expertise in stylized cartoon designs and digital painting;
  • Understanding of the processes and limitations in game development;
  • Basic knowledge of the Unity engine;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both in Brazilian Portuguese and English.

Major pluses:

  • Storyboarding development;
  • Mastering of 3D softwares such as Blender or 3DS Max;
  • Mastering of Maya animation software.
  • Experience leading art teams;
  • Experience working with large IPs;
  • Experience working with third-party partners.
