Amazon Game Studios is looking for an exceptionally skilled Outsource Art Manager. This individual will ensure consistent delivery of AAA quality 2D and 3D art content through a broad skill set including the ability to work with project leads and production to evaluate outsourcing needs, as well as researching, evaluating, and testing potential outsource partners. Additionally, this individual will generate project specific documentation, to be delivered to outsource partners, that defines content standards and establishes communication guidelines and pipeline needs. The Outsource Art Manager Lead will work with the production team to create, manage, and track art outsource schedules and will provide feedback and direction, both artistic and technical, to our outsource partners by acting as the communication representative between the art devs and our outsource partners and by reviewing deliverables to ensure they meet expected quality bar and work with the game engine.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with the Art Director to own the development of the visual style and quality bar for all outsource work.
  • Drive outsourcing process from beginning to end by presenting work, guiding conversations, and coordinating with producers to work on timelines
  • Ability and desire to problem solve and work autonomously in the absence of concrete answers or specific direction.
  • Collaborate with a team of artists and outsource partner to ensure final deliverables reflect the artistic design vision.
  • Detailed and organized management of a high volume of assets across multiple disciplines (characters, concept, world, 2D assets, and more)
  • Provide ongoing regular and timely feedback to external vendors working on art content.
  • Must communicate and work well in a team environment with the ability to receive and give feedback with gracious consideration.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience as an Outsource Manager
  • 2+ titles shipped in a lead or manager role
  • 2+ AAA titles shipped
  • 1+ titles shipped in a role managing outsource content creation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid knowledge of next generation asset creation pipelines, tools, software and customization systems.
  • Experience in an art role for game development
  • Experience working and placing assets into a game engine.
  • Proven experience in a professional game production pipeline.
  • Able to accurately estimate the time to complete individual assets.
  • Independently self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Traditional art skills (drawing, painting, sculpting).
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
  • Strong passion for gaming!
