Volta is on the hunt for a creative and talented Lead 3D Hard Surface Artist to join our team! If you're passionate about crafting stunning 3D weapons, all things mechanic and hard surface props that bring worlds to life, we want to hear from you.

As a Lead 3D Hard Surface Artist at Volta, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the hard surface modeling and texturing efforts for assigned projects

  • Collaborate with the 3D Art Director and other departments to establish the look and feel of assets

  • Establish and maintain best practices, quality bar, pipelines, tools, and processes for the department

  • Ensure all assets meet the high standards set by the team

  • Work with other departments to make sure assets are properly integrated into the game engine

  • Mentor and guide junior artists on the team

  • Organize and pioneer research and development efforts aimed at improving the Hard Surface art pipeline, tools, and processes

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 8 years of experience as a 3D Hard Surface Artist in the games industry

  • Previous experience as a Lead, Principal or Senior level Hard Surface artist.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your skill generating hard surface assets and a strong artistic understanding of form and function.

  • Expert knowledge of 3D production pipeline, highpoly, lowpoly, UVs, baking and texturing.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical and weapon design language and functions, being able to interpret and elevate loose concepts into believable 3D model.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to create models with a high level of accuracy

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines

  • Extensive knowledge of 3D modeling software such as 3ds Max, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and hard surface specific software such as Fusion 360.
