As a Gameplay Development Tester at Ubisoft MTL, you will be responsible for testing features before their integration, and will be in charge of the quality of the different gameplay systems and 3C features throughout production, and post-launch. With the knowledge of core systems, you will need to test possible interdependencies and prevent any potential regressions. You will need to interact with all members of your team, including other developers, designers, animators, directors, programmers, to understand the origin of problems and find possible solutions to resolve them. Thanks to you, when the game hits the market or ships in the next content season, players will not only experience a playable game, but also an enjoyable experience. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in shooter games like Rainbow Six or Apex as well as an interest in PC, Console and Mobile platforms.

Main responsibilities:

  • Investigate and identify bugs for Gameplay, 3C, game modes and any game features before their integration into the main build.

  • Provide feedback on game design and evaluate the impact/risk of features.

  • Produce and maintain documentation on processes or functionalities concerning your team;

  • Be the point of contact for the teams responsible for gameplay features;

  • Develop test plans for your assigned functionality in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g. AI, audio, UI, gameplay, engine, online, etc.)

  • Create and maintain detailed test plans by collaborating daily with game designers.

  • Track feature bugs found by internal and external teams, and coordinate their correction (sort, prioritize and assign to the right developers).

  • Work with other development testers to stay up to date, fix features, suggest solutions to issues, share knowledge, etc.

  • Collaborate with your team lead and fellow developers to understand the overall game vision and design documentation.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in quality control, quality assurance or a related field.

  • Critical thinking, specific testing methodologies with the aim of breaking gameplay features.

  • Good knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools and processes;

  • Knowledge of bug tracking software (e.g. Jira) and test management tools (e.g. TestRail and Xray).

  • Knowledge of and interest in FPS

  • Knowledge of the Windows operating system (win 10), consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo), mobile devices (IOS, Android).

  • Rigorous and methodical.

  • Proactive, autonomous and resourceful.

  • Knowledge of animation principles.

  • Ability to provide qualitative feedback.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Spirit of collaboration, empathy and innovation.

  • A strong sense of organization.

  • A good understanding of the development process and a passion for video games.

  • Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) in computer science, game design or any other related course is preferred.
