Ubisoft Bordeaux

Founded in 2017, Ubisoft Bordeaux works with passion on the biggest AAA titles to deliver the best gaming experiences. Today, the studio is composed of over 400 talents from 20 different nationalities, working on licenses such as Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and other unannounced projects. At the same time, the studio has set up a Tech branch which works on all Ubisoft's online services (named Online Services) and on the Anvil game engine. As a FX Artist and reporting to the Artistic Director, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing real-time VFX for gameplay.

In this context, your missions are:

  • Design and prototype multiple gameplay feedback effects

  • Master the VFX editor within the project and suggest ways of improving the management of gameplay VFX.

  • Optimize VFX and find the best solutions for producing effects that adapt to the technical constraints of our game engine and the technologies used.

  • Ensure the artistic quality of VFX in line with the direction given by the Artistic and Technical Departments.

  • Possibility of working on cosmetic customization FX


  • You have significant experience of real-time VFX production

  • You are preferably familiar with Unreal Engine, its Niagara VFX system and its shader creation tool

  • You have a good knowledge of 2D/3D modeling and effects tools (Photoshop, 3DS Max, Maya, After Effect, etc.)

  • You are autonomous, versatile and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • You are fluent in English, enabling you to work in an international environment.

  • You are passionate about video games and have a good knowledge of this industry.
