Job Description

As an Associate Lead Level Artist at Ubisoft Annecy, you will be working together with the team at Massive Entertainment to create a story-driven open-world video game set in the Star Wars galaxy. Our goal is to create a game and a story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey, which will stay with them for years to come.

You’ll be challenged with supporting, mentoring, and assisting in the managing of a team of Level Artists; to create the atmosphere and environment to help transport our players to another world.

You will work along with the Lead Level Artist to support the game’s vision through the level art. Your responsibility is split between team management and production like following:

  • Understand and carry the Artistic direction, with the Environment Artists team while ensuring its understanding, its enrichment and its application

  • Manage the creation and development of high quality level art

  • Support and develop a team of Level Artists to achieve ambitious goals

  • Structure and organize the team’s production in order to build and maintain a high performance team

  • Establish excellent collaboration and communication with partner studios

  • Provide clear and precise feedback

  • Work on optimization and debugging

  • You will assist the Lead in reporting to the Associate Producer/Producer on the progress of work and any issues relating to the quest

Qualifications

  • You have a proven experience in level or environment artist, preferably on an project

  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to positively motivate a team.

  • You collaborate and communicate constructively with the team and other departments

  • You have excellent knowledge of video game development process and interactions between the artistic, design, and technical jobs allow you to work efficiently with multidisciplinary teams

  • You have Mastery of game engines (Unreal, Unity), Mastery of 2D and 3D software (Photoshop, 3DSMax desired); and Mastery of modeling and good knowledge of texturing and lighting; Knowledge of PBR technology (creation of albedo textures, normal map, spec map, AO, etc.); and Knowledge of Z-Brush, Quixel, Substance.

  • You have an artistic eye for details/compositions

  • You have strong knowledge of contextualizing the space/ environment in both Macro/Micro scale

  • You are familiar with the technical constraints of real-time gaming;

  • You have a passion for creating lively, harmonious, credible and coherent scenes;

  • You are proactive, curious and dynamic, you have very good video game knowledge (open world games, racing and online games in particular).

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills in English
