Treyarch is looking for a Lead Game Designer to help build, and then guide a design group to craft zombies game experiences for our ongoing and future projects. This is an opportunity to lay the foundation of a new team onsite in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

The role is pivotal to creating a team and environment that thrives on developing AAA game content. Collaborating with the Zombies Team in Playa Vista, CA, this position will help shape the future of our zombies gameplay experiences.

What you’ll do…

  • Collaborate with Zombies Leadership to define and articulate product vision.

  • Work closely with production and other leaders to assess and manage scope in areas of oversight.

  • Create, implement and iterate on designs supporting the vision of Zombies.

  • Guide the work of the design team to achieve the product vision.

  • Assist Treyarch Design Leadership with recruiting for and building a design team in Vancouver.

  • Manage designers and create a positive culture within the group.

To succeed you should have...

  • The ability to contribute directly to the game while also providing leadership on content and to team members.

  • The ability to establish and guide the career planning of design team members.

  • Proficiency with one or more scripting or programming languages (C-like languages a plus).

  • Ability to clearly articulate and communicate design ideas using any text and visuals to a diverse audience.

  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, time-management and organizational skills.

  • The ability to balance player / community sentiment, data analytics and experience when creating future designs.

We’d love it if you also have…

  • Experience working in a position with job responsibilities similar to the above listing, with a team of at least 3 game designers in a professional setting.

  • Experience with first or third person shooter game design.

  • Experience with quest design, especially involving multiple cooperative players.

  • Experience with Live Support and Post-Launch/Seasonal content releases.

  • A passion for developing a robust and enjoyable design culture.
