We are seeking a Technical Artist who will support the Environment Art team through workflow development, shader creation, and tools development. Working closely with the Art Leads, your work will help shape and populate our world with photorealistic assets and landscapes, while helping our artists craft levels in a non-destructive way. Your work will meaningfully enrich our artist’s workflows and pipelines. With your help we will push the industry to new heights of realism, gameplay, and storytelling!

Responsibilities:

  • Build/Maintain procedural tools (BP, PCG, Houdini) for crafting roads, rivers, buildings, interior layouts, mountains and more to be used in Unreal by the Environment Art team.

  • Collaborate with all facets of art, tech art, and engineering to develop and improve the pipeline for building content within Unreal, Houdini, and other software packages.

  • Work with artists to meet memory constraints and runtime performance on target hardware.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Houdini / VEX / Houdini Engine for Unreal

  • Working knowledge of Blueprint / Unreal Classes

  • Working knowledge with Python, Qt or equivalent

  • Ability to work within the technical constraints of real-time game engines and optimize content for the target hardware.

  • Ability to communicate closely with Art Leads and anticipate the needs of world builders to streamline content creation.

  • (Bonus) Working knowledge with the Unreal Material Graph

  • (Bonus) Experience with DCC APIs (OpenMaya, Designer/Painter, Blender, Houdini, etc)

  • (Bonus) Experience with Unreal C++, creating unreal plugins, and exposing functions to blueprint/python.
