A Lead Designer at Studio Gobo….
Manages the design team, sets quality standards and good work practices.
Work with the Game Director to set the direction for individual design features.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the on-time delivery for design features.
Document and communicate game systems and features to the team and other key stakeholders.
Work with other group leads and the production team to plan for the project schedule, identify dependencies and risks, and find solutions for them.
Regularly communicates the game vision clearly and ensures that all features support this shared vision.
Delivers constructive feedback in a way that empowers and motivates the team.
Keeps in close communication with the directors and other discipline leads as needed.
Supports the career growth of their direct reports through structured 1 to 1s and personal development plans.
Is involved with studio-level processes that are relevant to design.
Manages stakeholder and external relationships by being a key contact and presenting work created by the team.
Negotiates feature requests and changes to the scope both internally and with external stakeholders.
Is a hiring manager for the design department and works with recruitment to identify and filter potential new hires, as well as being integral to the interview process.
Leads the ideation and implementation of gameplay mechanics and features, ensuring the final product exceeds player expectations.
Things we’d love to see from you:
Recent experience in character action genre on console or PC platforms.
A few years game design experience, with a couple in a senior or lead design role.
Experience in all phases of game development, from concepts to release.
Has excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Has a creative and analytical mind.
Passionate, curious, self-motivated, task driven and open to constructive criticism.
Can anticipate and solve problems before they arise and without supervision.
Champions innovative thinking, consistently bringing fresh and inventive ideas to enhance game design.
