Snowed in Studios is a game development studio based in Ottawa, Canada. As part of Keywords Studios’ Create service line, we provide programming, art and design support to some of the most important and exciting games being made today. We are currently looking add Intermediate User Experience Designers to our already amazing team. As a “Snowmie” designer, you will use your interactive design skills to help our client studios to bring their games to realization.

You will use your passion for games, insatiable curiosity, and versatility to work on a variety of projects and across all aspects of game development. In return, you will be part of a creative and supportive team environment with the ability to have a direct impact on the development of top-tier games.

Are you up for the challenge?

Some of the cool stuff you’ll be doing:

  • Working closely with client studios to bring their games to realization

  • Researching, designing, prototyping and implementing user flows, game menus, interfaces and interactions

  • Collaborating with stake holders to identify feature requirements, limitations and goals

  • Analyzing and optimizing existing user experiences

  • Iterating on designs based on feedback and usability testing

  • Working closely with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately.

  • Building a solid relationship with your game development peers in-house and around the world

  • Supporting your team mates to accomplish goals

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • 2+ years professional experience in interactive design – preference given to game development UX experience.

  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard design and collaboration software such as Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative suite, Miro, etc

  • Advanced UX design skills and strong understanding of the design fundamentals

  • Understanding of edge cases, and knock-on effects and development cost of design ideas

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of various design patterns and their benefits/draw backs

  • Portfolio of relevant work experience

  • College diploma or bachelor's degree in interactive design, UX design or equivalent experience

Bonus points!

  • Experience with game engines such as Unity 3D and Unreal Engine

  • Strong graphic skills

  • Motion design experience

  • Shipped game(s)

  • Experience working directly with external clients
