The role

We are seeking a talented and ambitious lead concept artist to join our small creative concept team here in London. As a Lead Concept Artist, you will manage the concept team and be a positive creative force for the wider development team. You should bring a wealth of experience of creating art for the games industry with you, bringing fresh ideas to familiar concepts. Working closely with the Art Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the artistic vision is adhered to in innovative ways while collaborating and problem solving across multiple disciplines beyond the Art team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a team of both internal and external concept artists, ensuring the quality and consistency meet the project’s style and quality standards as outlined by the Art Director

  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director to keep a consistent vision and evangelize the vision to the extended team.

  • Provide clear feedback and critique when needed and mentoring more junior team members.

  • Be a voice for concept art when dealing with both stakeholders and the wider development team.

  • Partner with the Art Director and relevant project teams to establish efficient art production pipelines to create high quality Concept Art to inspire the wider team and accomplish the goals of the project.

  • Partner with production to help build schedules and to help manage individual concept artists to keep their work on schedule.

Requirements

  • Portfolio showing experience as a core part of a full development cycle of a game as a Lead or Senior Concept Artist, including ideation, iteration and development ready artwork.

  • Solid, proven understanding of artistic fundamentals and a killer eye for design principles in both characters and environment

  • Experience in and motivated by leading a team of creatively driven concept artists.

  • Comfortable taking ownership of decisions that can affect the entire studio with a clear and level head.

  • Proven ability to creatively address challenges in collaboration with the wider game team

  • Excellent organisation and project planning skills

  • Experienced and comfortable setting up and running outsourcing arrangements.

  • A passion for problem-solving and driving innovation.

  • A positive force, who is proactive and takes initiative.

  • Passion for creating and playing games.
