As a Senior Software Engineer on the Engine Build Systems Team, you will be directly responsible for shaping the way the Roblox engine is compiled, assembled, and released. The engine build system is the backbone of all development efforts across all Roblox client applications, and you will be a key contributor in developing a new and innovative build system for distributed software builds across multiple host and target platforms, including consoles, desktop platforms and mobile devices. If you eat and breathe C++ and build systems, and are excited by the thought of impacting an entire organization, you'll be right at home with our Engine Build Systems Team.

You Will:

  • Develop a new and innovative build system with support for distributed builds and caching.

  • Work with open source communities as necessary to support bug fixes and addition of features.

  • Use profiling abilities to discover and correct inefficiencies in our build system.

  • Support other engine teams in growing the build system capabilities to meet their needs.

  • Develop tooling to make builds simple from the user perspective.

You Have:

  • Deep experience with C++ and its build / compilation model.

  • Familiarity with multiple build systems (Make, CMake, Bazel, etc).

  • Familiarity with the challenges of working at scale and on constrained platforms like consoles or mobile devices

  • A passion for correctness and doing things "the right way".

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$267,720—$331,640 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
