As a Senior Graphics Software Engineer on our Avatar team, you will have an immediate impact on the building blocks of Roblox itself while reporting to the Avatar Technical Director. Your work will touch every part of our Avatars and how our users express themselves. If you enjoy working on C++ and graphics related projects alongside experienced and passionate engineers, you will be right at home on our growing Avatar team.

You Will:

  • Become an expert on the Roblox Avatar data model and core engine functionality that guide our character systems.

  • Balance researching new technologies with a practical approach to accomplish the research efforts into the Roblox production game engine and tools.

  • Become an expert on Roblox Studio, our content creation tools, and pipeline

  • Improve the future of avatar technology through vision, combined with detailed execution strategy that optimizes for fidelity, performance and compatibility.

  • Lead other engineers by example and through technical direction to improve the quality bar of the team.

  • Work with different teams to improve existing and develop new functionality, pipelines, and workflow.

You Have:

  • 5+ years experience and have worked on deep and challenging problems in complex C++ codebases

  • Systems-level expereince including pointers, templates, and raw blocks of memory are tools to write code, not your enemies

  • 3+ years of professional real-time rendering experience

  • Responsibility to own build systems that work and keep on working reliably

  • Curiosity to learn, and stay up-to-date on technology developments

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
