Department overview:

We are establishing and growing a new engineering team in Dublin that contributes to the client technologies powering PlayStation experiences used by millions of players worldwide.

Our team develops SDKs, middleware, and platform technologies that enable scalable and reliable experiences across the PlayStation ecosystem. While our primary focus today is SDK and platform development, the team is expected to evolve alongside business and product needs, creating opportunities to work across multiple technical domains.

As an early member of the team, you will help shape the technologies we build, the engineering practices we follow, and the future direction of a growing organization while collaborating closely with teams in Tokyo and across the globe.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain client-side SDKs, middleware, and system software primarily using C/C++
• Lead technical design discussions and drive architecture decisions for SDK and platform capabilities
• Design clean, scalable, and maintainable APIs that simplify integration and improve developer experience
• Analyze product requirements and translate them into robust technical designs and implementation plans
• Own complex features from design through delivery, ensuring quality, reliability, and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Quality Engineering, and global engineering teams
• Partner with engineering teams in Tokyo and other global locations to drive technical alignment and deliver shared platform capabilities
• Identify, analyze, and resolve challenging technical issues related to performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Review designs and code while providing technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other engineers
• Drive engineering excellence through improvements to development processes, branching strategies, release quality, and operational practices
• Contribute to SDK documentation, sample applications, developer tooling, and integration guidance
• Support adoption and evolution of platform technologies across multiple products and teams

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of professional experience developing production software using C/C++
• Experience designing and developing SDKs, frameworks, middleware, or complex client-side software systems
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, API design, and software engineering best practices
• Experience working with client/server architectures, networking technologies, distributed systems, or platform services
• Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architecture or design decisions
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills
• Experience collaborating effectively in cross-functional and globally distributed engineering organizations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to mentor engineers and positively influence technical direction within a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing cross-platform SDKs, frameworks, or platform technologies
• Experience improving developer experience through tooling, documentation, automation, or platform enhancements
• Experience developing applications for iOS or Android platforms
• Experience with delivering production-quality mobile or desktop applications using React Native
• Experience with C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Experience with CI/CD systems, build infrastructure, or release engineering
• Experience working closely with Quality Engineering teams to improve testability and release quality
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
