HR Compliance Manager (People Team Compliance)

San Mateo, CA (hybrid)

We’re looking for a passionate and collaborative HR Compliance Manager to build and measure compliance controls, ensuring policies and practices are relevant and scalable. As a key member of the People Experience team you will partner with various collaborators across the organization to lead Americas HR Compliance program governance. The right candidate will have a strong interest in employment policies and legislative trends, extensive program management and vendor management experience, and desire to understand and improve processes. This role will also focus on process improvement opportunities and demonstrating industry best practices.

Based in San Mateo and reporting to the Senior Manager, People Experience and Compliance, this person will lead the Americas HR Compliance team. Join this highly collaborative HR team whose mission is to create a highly engaged work culture.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead I-9 employment verification and reverification program.

    • Ensure compliance, troubleshoot cases, provide technical subject matter authority.

    • Manage vendor relationship and budget.

    • Continuously seek system enhancements and improvements to the employee experience.

    • Troubleshoot system support with People Tech & Services team and the vendor.

  • Lead background check program for US and Canada.

    • Ensure compliance, adjudication, manage processes.

    • Manage vendor relationship and budget.

    • Continuously seek system enhancements and improvements to the employee experience.

  • Maintain employment policies and ensure onboarding compliance.

    • Ensure policies are posted, up to date, and easily accessible to all employees.

    • Act as subject matter expert and first point of contact for US and Canada policy questions, providing clear and accurate interpretation of employment policies.

    • Keep informed and up to date on employment law, maintaining compliance with labor regulations (local, State, Federal and regional).

  • Personnel file program management.

    • Maintain personnel file records for all Americas-based employees.

    • Lead response to requests for information (from Legal, HR, employees).

    • Conduct regular auditing – ensuring accuracy and compliance for all records.

  • Manage Fixed Term Employee (FXT) program (US).

    • Support and maintain governance and compliance controls; including administration to generate extension, renewals, and termination procedures.

  • Partner with audit team on all internal audit controls

  • Key member of M&A project team, providing HR Compliance support and planning for new acquisition onboarding.

  • Manage labor posters at all North America locations, ensuring accuracy and that updates are posted in a timely manner.

  • Emergency Response program lead for HR, supporting Global Security Operations Center for employee outreach and response to natural disaster and medical emergencies.

  • Responsible for responding to BLS surveys and ad-hoc government agency report requests.

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, share knowledge, and have an interest in learning broad areas of wider team.

  • Develop close working relationships with Legal Compliance team, key partners in HR, and external vendors.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate appropriate training for broader team when new programs have been developed or enhancements made to existing programs.

  • People Manage Compliance team within the People Experience team.

Required Knowledge / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • 7+ years experience in HR Compliance role.

  • Solid knowledge of employment laws and federal and state regulations – Canada a plus.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to accomplish demanding timeline objectives, multi-task on assignments.

  • Flawless attention to detail.

  • Strong Project Management and relationship building skills.

  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality/discretion.

  • Experience managing and developing a team

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work in a global setting, with international colleagues.

  • Highly data literate.

  • High level of initiative and responsiveness with an aim to quickly resolve problems.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including vlookup, pivot tables, data conversion and reporting.

  • Experience using Workday or other HR systems.

  • Experience using ServiceNow or other case management systems.

Bonus:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.

  • Previous experience in the games or entertainment industry.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. $135,200—$202,800 USD
