Armature, in partnership with the Reality Labs organization at Meta, is looking for a seasoned VFX Artist. As a member of the team you will design, optimize and implement VFX for cutting edge AAA, VR experiences. Working closely with the game designers, engineers and other artists you’ll use your expertise to create VFX to enhance gameplay, make worlds believable, and punctuate the visual design of key systems.
Principal VFX Artist - Armature Game Studio Responsibilities
Create real-time particle systems, with supporting assets including shaders, models and textures for a variety of Oculus platforms including the Meta Quest 2
Implement creative solutions for creating visually stunning VFX within the limitations of evolving hardware
Author considering performance issues, managing asset file size and optimizing accordingly
Drive R&D by exploring new techniques, tools and best practices
Create and maintain documentation for the VFX pipeline and processes
Work closely with the project vision holder, art director, and producer to maintain the studio's visual standards and meet publishing schedules
Act proactively, self managing your time and seeking out tasks that remain undone, looking forward to identify important problems to solve
Author creation best practices for and quality control VFX work done partner studios
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience creating high quality real-time particle systems and visual effects demonstrated in work samples or a portfolio site
Proficient working in Maya, UE5, Niagara and Blueprints
Experienced in node-based shaders/materials and texture creation
Mastery of content creation tools for VFX such as but not limited to Photoshop, Substance, Embergen, and After Effects
Interest in games, with an interest in VR/AR development
Experience with self-organizing time and work relative to project deadlines
Proven time management and comprehension of animation principles
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience managing an outsource pipeline for VFX content
Prior experience creating particle shaders in HLSL/CG code
Experience with SideFX Houdini
Scripting in Python and Mel a plus

$146,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
