Netflix is looking for an experienced game developer to join the Internal Games team. This role reports to the Director of Internal Development and partners with internal games leadership, first-party game studios, as well as cross-functional development partners to ensure the successful launch and operation of world-class, multi-platform live service games.

What You’ll Do

The Sr. Manager, Platform Relations on the Internal Games team will be responsible for building strong relationships with our Platform partners in service of creating the optimal environment for our development teams to do the best work of their lives.

This role will require deep knowledge of game software as a service, high levels of developer and gamer empathy - from feature and technical perspectives. The successful candidate should have experience navigating complex organization and development problems, especially relationships between dev team and software development organizations. Our Sr. Manager - Platform Relations will need to be able to understand game requirements from our game teams (filling in gaps) and form great relationships with our partner organizations to help anticipate problems before they happen.

Our new Sr. Manager - Platform Relations should be able to clearly communicate what’s necessary for a successful game launch based on experience, yet not be prescriptive about how things need to get done. They should be able to influence other senior directors with different priorities to advocate for features and support needed by our game teams.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for building strong relationships with partner organizations to help ensure success of our internally developed games

  • Partner with program management team to clarify and prioritize feature requirements from our development teams during production and live operations

  • Establish processes to help surface and communicate prioritized feature requests from our dev teams and reflect back updated roadmaps and updated changelists

  • Provide guidance for dev teams on what pitfalls they should look out for when considering platform and live ops features.

  • Participate in phase reviews for the internal games slate to help ensure that game teams are considering appropriate risks and mitigations.

  • Become a well-versed, up-to-date resource for dev teams Cloud, Netflix controller, SDK, Social and Discovery teams.

  • Work with Netflix games platform and product teams to advocate for the features and technology needed for internal game teams to realize their vision for the player.

  • Partner with internal studios leadership to shape the go-forward strategy for internal game development at Netflix.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the gaming industry, working in a technical program management role - especially as relating to central game technology teams and having shipped multiple cycles of games. (e.g., Battle.net, riot.net, or Xbox Live)

  • Able to speak on, and bring an informed perspective to platform technology discussions and how it might impact game development

  • Experienced as a player of live service games with a strong understanding of what matters for players (and developers).

  • Experience managing cross-functional groups and game teams through influence.

  • Continuously looking for ways to improve and iterate on existing frameworks, or building anew for best results. Passion for video games, innovations in software, and how they enrich the player experience.

  • Ultimately accountable for harmonizing the development team’s requirements with the platform team’s roadmap and negotiating compromises, and escalating when all else fails.

Location

  • Los Angeles, CA / Remote

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $160,000 - $610,000.
