Game Designer
Job Description
You'll be joining the team behind Online Soccer Manager, one of the biggest football management games on mobile. OSM is a mature live game with a large, opinionated community, which means the design work is less about starting from a blank page and more about making meaningful changes to systems that people already care deeply about.
As a Game Designer on OSM you'll own features and economy work end to end, from the first concept through spec, implementation, release and the balancing that follows. You'll work day to day with product managers, producers, UX designers, developers and analysts in a small cross-functional team.
We're looking for someone with a few games behind them who can carry a feature without much hand-holding.
What will you be doing at Miniclip?
- Design features and content for OSM, from concept to detailed specification, that improve engagement, retention and monetisation.
- Design and tune the in-game economy, including pricing, progression, rewards and sinks, and monitor how it behaves once live.
- Prototype and playtest ideas early, and use what you learn to kill or reshape them.
- Balance and iterate on live features after release, using analytics and player feedback to decide what changes and what stays.
- Present your designs and the reasoning behind them to the team and to stakeholders, and defend the parts worth defending.
- Keep an eye on competitors and the wider sports and management genre, and bring back what's inspiring.
- Work with developers to improve the internal tools and config systems designers rely on.
What are we looking for?
- 3+ years designing gameplay and economy for live mobile free-to-play games.
- Experience across the full cycle, from prototype to production to running a game post-launch.
- Comfortable working with analytics, and able to turn data into a design decision rather than a dashboard summary.
- Strong grasp of mobile UX, and genuine curiosity about players whose taste differs from your own.
- Takes critique well and iterates instead of defending. Writes clear, well-argued design docs.
- Experience with live ops planning and content calendars.
- Self-directed and organised. You can own a feature without being chased.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Experience on sports, management or simulation titles.
We offer
An informal studio with a flat structure, where designers are expected to have opinions and to say them out loud. We move quickly, ship regularly, and we don't confuse long hours with good work. You'll get real ownership over what you build, and time set aside for your own development.
