With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Lighting Artist to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality and visually consistent lighting for in-game environments and cinematics, working closely with the art director, art leads, and cinematic team.
  • Support the overall lighting direction by maintaining consistency across scenes and locations, balancing artistic intent with gameplay clarity and performance.
  • Collaborate with technical artists and other departments to follow established lighting workflows, tools, and standards.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot lighting setups to ensure strong visual results within performance budgets across multiple platforms.
  • Contribute to team knowledge by sharing insights, supporting peers, and continuously improving personal craft.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience working on lighting for real-time environments and/or cinematics, ideally within game development.
  • A strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating high-quality lighting work in real-time, with a good understanding of light, color, composition, mood, and storytelling.
  • Hands-on experience with lighting in a real-time engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines).
  • Solid understanding of PBR workflows, real-time rendering constraints, and how lighting interacts with materials and post-processing.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site at our Barcelona studio.
Nice to Haves
  • Familiarity with color grading, tone mapping, and post-processing techniques.
  • Basic experience or interest in non-realtime lighting workflows (e.g., film or offline rendering).
  • Background or interest in photography, cinematography, or visual arts.
  • Experience collaborating closely with other artists in a production environment.
  • An international team of over 500 employees spread across 7 studios around the world, each of which have their own unique qualities, and maintain a small-studio feel
