Analytics Engineer

With petabytes of data and billions of events generated every day, data sits at the heart of everything we do. Our team turns this data into trusted models and reporting products that help teams across King make better decisions about games played by millions of people.

You will join a small collaborative team currently spread across Barcelona, London and Stockholm, working with engineers and analysts across Shared Tech and beyond.

You might come from analytics engineering, data engineering or product analytics. What matters is that you are comfortable building with code and equally interested in understanding the business problems behind the work. You will be part of a small team where everyone contributes across the full range of work, from investigation and modelling to routine data maintenance.

Your Role Within the Kingdom

• Engage with stakeholders across the business to understand their challenges and needs. Dig into the data to test assumptions and figure out what needs to be built
• Help define what should be measured and translate that into clean, scalable data models
• Turn raw event and product data into clean, trusted models that serve as the foundation for analytics and self-service reporting
• Design and develop BI products that are intuitive and built for self-service: Looker models, dashboards, custom visualisations and reporting tools
• Communicate your ideas and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Shape the architecture of our data products together with engineers and analysts. Care about data quality, documentation and modelling standards
• Take ownership of your work from design to deployment. We use AI-assisted tools as part of how we work and expect you to be open to doing the same

Skills To Create Thrills

• An analytical mindset. You naturally connect what you hear from the business with what you see in the data and think about how to close the gap
• Strong SQL skills, able to write complex and performant queries with ease
• Solid Python skills for data transformation, scripting and workflow automation
• Good understanding of data modelling principles and the ability to translate business questions into well-structured data products
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a problem-solving attitude and ability to talk to both business and technical people
• A curious and proactive mindset and a willingness to learn and broaden your skills
• Hands-on experience building dashboards and visualisations in Looker or a similar BI platform

Bonus Points

• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Drone or GitHub Actions
• Experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar) as part of your development workflow
• Contributions to open source projects or public analytics work
