Roblox Game Developer (Design & Art)

This role may be structured as a three-month internship or a full-time project-based contract position, depending on the candidate's experience and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement game-ready art assets (characters, environments, props, and UI ) for Roblox games.
  • Contribute to gameplay loops, progression, game economy, rewards, balancing, social systems, and player motivation through a design and visual lens.
  • Rapidly prototype visual concepts and gameplay ideas, test assumptions, and iterate based on player feedback and team reviews.
  • Identify player pain points through playtesting and observation, and translate them into practical, player-centric design or visual solutions.
  • Support UI, animation, and VFX implementation across features and seasonal content.
  • Optimise assets and resolve visual or performance issues across builds and playtests, respecting Roblox's low-poly and performance constraints.
  • Participate actively in planning, playtesting, and continuous product improvement.
  • Stay current with Roblox platform updates, art/design tools, successful games, and industry practices.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Game Design, Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Portfolio containing academic projects, personal projects, or professional experience is required, showcasing art, animation, or game design work.
  • Strong understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and player experience, with familiarity in maintaining design documentation (GDDs, feature specs, wireframes) a plus.
  • Strong fundamentals in 3D art creation (models, textures, materials), and experience implementing assets in Roblox Studio or another game engine (Unity, Unreal).
  • Basic technical knowledge of shaders, lighting, materials, and animation setup; awareness of performance considerations (poly count, texture sizes, draw calls) and game-ready asset constraints.
  • Familiarity with Roblox player behaviours, platform conventions, and popular game genres.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with programmers to solve visual and technical challenges.
  • Willingness to contribute beyond art (e.g., basic scripting or design documentation) and develop as a well-rounded game creator.
