Job description
The Technical Game Designer is responsible for supporting the Design team. They may be required to create scripts, integrate data and create prototypes. In addition, they often carry out a wide variety of tasks in parallel, and always do so rigorously. Acting as the team's transmission belt, the technical game designer bridges the gap between the various video game trades. Thanks to their mastery of development tools, they play an active part in achieving the game's vision, as well as providing support to the various members of the team.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Acting as the technical expert on all design issues, solving problems and providing support and advice to team members.
Act as the first point of contact for all technical game design issues and be able to determine whether an element can be handled in script or dealt with in code by the programming team.
Continuously evaluate designs, game features and pipelines, identify risks and seek systemic improvements
Communicating with the various technical departments to improve tools and systems in order to make the design team more efficient
Update resource databases for game systems
Work with other technical designers on best practice and training material for design teams
Contribute to work planning based on the scope of each task in order to establish a compromise between quality objectives and delivery restrictions (time, cost, resources, etc.).
Identify the need to improve tools and methods, work with programmers on implementation and ensure proper deployment with the production team
Define your team's technical requirements, understand and translate the team's abstract and often undefined needs into practical and concrete terms
Qualifications
Skills and qualities required :
2-4 years' experience
Expertise in various scripting languages such as C# or Lua or Visual Scripting
Good knowledge of game editors (e.g. Unity, Unreal, etc.)
Accountable
Be consistent and rigorous
Take the initiative
Have a good work ethic
Communicate well with the team
Make the right decisions based on the stages of production
