Job description

Gamecan is looking for a Texture Artist to be a part of our Art team for our upcoming multiplayer title. The Texture Artist will work very closely with the Art Director to create high-quality, realistic textures for our characters and environments while providing consistency in the game. This individual will work collaboratively with our design and engineering team as well to make visually stunning game art while maintaining exceptional performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of game industry experience.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating realistic, high-quality textures and materials in gaming environments.

  • Experienced with creating outstanding textures using Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine.

  • Strong understanding of PBR materials and pipelines.

  • Strong eye for detail, composition, and value/color theory.

  • Excellent communication skills and must be able to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong work ethic, and ability to maintain high quality and consistent progress without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Employee’s immediate superior as per the Company’s hierarchy.

  • Create high-quality textures for a variety of organic and structural surfaces.

  • Author and enhance Materials in Unreal Engine for the production team to use.

  • Unwrap and texture 3D assets (ideally in Blender and Substance Painter).

  • Adhere to specific texturing pipelines and adapt to constraints needed for texture creation.

  • Produce all required textures (Normal map, spec, diffuse, etc) for game production, which includes tiling textures, working with TrimSheets, and object-based textures.

  • Be proactive and work closely with modelers/lighting artists to adapt textures to their needs & constraints.

  • Use good judgment and expertise to optimize the number of textures that are produced and their uses.

  • Be an excellent role model with your behavior, attitude, and communication by following the company values and set standards (can be found in Confluence).
