Overview:

Reporting to the UI Director, the incumbent is in charge of the ergonomic interface elements designed specifically for a video game (UI/UX). In order to make the game fun to play for the users, he is required to conceptualize and design the game interface elements in collaboration with game designers and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Illustrate, color and design video game interface elements;
  • Do visual research;
  • Sketch, draft and create interfaces;
  • Animate some interface elements;
  • Take part in the definition of a game's visual style;
  • Produce navigation flowcharts;
  • Make the assembly and initial integration of designs inside games engines such as Unity or Unreal;
  • Design interactions and complex systems like inventories or character creation processes;
  • Document or explain the workings of these processes to the production team or the client.

Requirements:

  • College education in graphic design, visual arts, multimedia or any other relevant discipline;
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in interface design for video or web games;
  • Knowledge of the Unity and/or Unreal game engine;
  • Knowledge of creation software (Photoshop, Illustrator);
  • Strong drawing, coloration and animation skills;
  • Knowledge of user/machine behavior (ergonomics);
  • Ability to find solutions to complex navigation problems;
  • Knowledge of the technical constraints of video game production and its different creation steps;
  • Work experience on a released project or to improve an existing project will be considered an asset;
  • Good knowledge of the video game industry;
  • Bilingual (French/English).
  • Portfolio and/or demo (mandatory).
