Join us for an opportunity to work with the best game development teams in the world. We are looking for a Technical Director to join the Quality Engineering team supporting BioWare, Motive, Cliffhanger, Maxis, Full Circle and Mobile.

Quality Engineering (QE) plays an important role in guaranteeing software excellence for gaming applications through the creation of automated solutions and efficient tooling for reliability and performance.

The Quality Engineering Technical Director reports to the Group Technical Director of Quality Verification (QV) and will partner across multiple teams to deliver automation and tooling solutions by gathering requirements and strengthening relationships with development and quality verification partners, conducting return on investment analysis to prioritize needs across multiple partners, and contributing to the impact of the organization by collaborating on best practices for engineering.

You will be a leader in a cohesive technical community by developing excellent relationships with technical peers in game development teams and other groups throughout EA studios.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with QE and Franchise leadership to define and implement strategic goals and milestones, establish best practices, and ensure technical solutions are cost-effective and meet customer expectations

  • Facilitate your team to provide technical solutions that sets the team up for low liabilities but highest throughput of delivery. This should include considerations of cloud and industry standard functional/non-functional design principles

  • Define the roadmap for the team to achieve opportunities identified by working with partners across EA studios worldwide

  • Provide technical oversight and direction to development teams; establish a robust code quality process

  • Act as a consultant to partners to drive collaboration and gain alignment on strategies at the component, sub-system, system level and services

  • Contribute to technical architecture and design documents for small/medium/large sized features

  • Oversee internal and external project dependencies as well as risks and critical paths, recommend solutions and approve plans and timelines while understanding overall impact on all partners.

  • Manage the performance and professional development of team members

  • Resolve challenges in a collaborative way, ensuring team satisfaction

  • Utilize excellent project management skills to prioritize requests based on resourcing, time and budget

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience with C#, .NET Web development experience, C++ or a similar language

  • Experience working on quality verification tools, test automation and/or development process improvements

  • Software Architecture experience designing large-scale, distributed and performant systems

  • Experience working on an agile team to deliver technology

  • Experience working in a global, distributed and matrix organization

  • Experience shipping at least one AAA title

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $149,150 - $233,500 USD Annually

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $136,000 - $233,500 USD Annually

  • Jersey City, NJ : º $171,100 - $233,500 USD Annually

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $136,000 - $190,850 USD Annually

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $136,000 - $218,900 USD Annually

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º $114,050 - $185,250 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
