Technical Art

Technical Art is the bridge between the art and programming departments, with the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. Creating pipelines and tools to improve overall efficiency for all departments they're connected to.

Technical Artist 2 - Animation

As an Animation Technical Artist you will work on specific projects under the direction of an Animation Director and Development Director to ensure that the Animation team is supported for all their needs. You will be the technical bridge between a game team and the Animation team. Your tasks may include artist technical support, project setup, tool development, DCC workflow improvements, and game engine integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Animators, Technical Artists, and Leadership

  • Tool maintenance and improvement

  • Maintain Animation DCC pipelines

  • Troubleshoot workflow issues

  • Work with proprietary animation run-time integration tools

  • Asset maintenance

  • Script development

  • Workflow design and implementation

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience

  • Expertise in Maya and/or Motion Builder

  • Proficient in Python Scripting

  • Knowledge of animation within a motion capture pipeline

  • Shipped Game Titles or VFX / Feature Animation

Bonus:

  • Fluent working within scene assembly and camera layout disciplines

  • Game Engine Experience (Commercial or Proprietary)

  • Motion Capture Familiarity

  • Knowledge of C++ or C#

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º $77,600 - $119,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and after 3 months of service - extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
