Step into the world of Quality Engineering where our group has one vision: we enable predictable development by guiding quality ‘by design.’ This means we help produce stronger and cleaner code, robust and reliable tools, and creative new processes that push our development partners and our games to new heights. 

As a Development Director in our Quality Engineering space you will report to the Senior Development Director. You will manage Quality Engineers on multiple game titles, including EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA), NHL, and UFC. You will be the keeper of the project schedule and help guide the engineers from one project phase to the next while ensuring a focus on product quality, collaboration and communication. You will partner closely with other managers and directors to ensure that we are managing our projects on time, to quality, and within budget.

Our tools, frameworks and workflow optimizations are critical to driving the quality of our software titles and something we need to constantly evolve to meet new technologies and new game features. You will work closely with Quality Verification leads to enable them to test their features more effectively and efficiently. You will also work closely with Development leads to ensure that our embedded test engineers are supporting and optimizing the game development cycle.

People Leadership:

  • You build and evolve effective teams, identify resourcing needs, provide challenges and developmental opportunities to ensure that all employees reach their potential.

  • You build effective working relationships with your team and those outside of the immediate team that have an effect on the successful completion of the project

  • You provide line management to a diverse group of employees within a single project team

  • You maintain regular communication with your project team and coordinate dependencies with external partners, occasionally coordinating a portfolio with multiple sub-teams

  • You participate in the hiring process to ensure qualified candidates are available to meet project requirements

Execution:

  • You will establish and assign task objectives from defined project goals; achieve project deliverables through managing team at a project-level (e.g. Franchise-wide level);

  • You will proactively assess and mitigate risk for assigned scope

  • You will partner with QV, Development and Production to manage scope and quality 

Project management:

  • You will establish an overall project schedule based on the individual task estimates for production

  • You will determine the resource requirements to meet the task requirements

  • You will establish a project budget, determine task dependencies, and assign tasks to team resources to maximize project success

Requirements:

  • 8 years project management or team leadership experience;

  • Education requirement: University degree - Bachelors or equivalent professional experience;

  • You effectively communicate across all levels and organizations, gaining support for your ideas and initiatives.

  • You have experience in multiple project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile

  • You excel in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º $93,700 - $153,900 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
