The Blizzard Core Technology team is looking for software engineers to build solutions that solve hard problems shared by all Blizzard games. Engineers on the team focus on building technologies that are integrated into our games and the tools needed to publish, install, manage and patch them. Our team works on a wide spectrum of applications and code; from compression to distributing data to gamers around the world. Therefore, we seek individuals who have a passion for learning new things and solving hard problems.

Our ideal candidate enjoys software engineering and is excited about cross platform development. They want to craft APIs that are not only easy to use, but also engineered to harness the full capabilities of a system, to create the best experience for our players.

What you will do...

  • Develop libraries used by the game distribution system to handle large games efficiently

  • Develop and maintain systems for optimal performance, stability, and error-free operation

  • Directly support teams with their software and integration needs

  • Collaborate with game teams and fellow team members to develop and refine key systems

To succeed you must have...

  • Fluency in C++

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate precisely with engineers and non-engineers alike

  • Confidence in managing and transforming massive amounts of data (transfer, compression, encryption)

  • The skill to plan your work and a drive to honor your commitments

  • Attention to detail

  • A commitment to code quality, documentation, and testing

  • The ability to work within and add to an established code framework

We’re also interested in hearing about...

  • Experience with code optimization

  • Experience designing library APIs

  • Experience with cross-platform development (desktop, console, mobile etc.)

  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment and handling multiple projects simultaneously

  • Your debugging skills (Visual Studio, XCode, etc.)

  • That hard problem you built an amazingly creative solution for

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
