Your Mission

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a finance leader to join our award-winning video game company in Irvine, California. Blizzard Entertainment is a developer and publishing of entertainment software. Its games are consistently in the top of its category, including World of Warcraft®, Overwatch™, Diablo®, Hearthstone®, and StarCraft® franchises, each of which have received Game of the Year awards.

Responsibilities

Successful business leaders at Blizzard need an outstanding mix of quantitative and qualitative capabilities. The levels of innovation and craftsmanship that our creative teams bring to areas like design and art, we expect from our Finance leaders in strategic planning, product passion, and financial difficulty.

The Finance & Strategy Sr Manager is encouraged to coordinate a help drive sustained revenue and margin growth for a responsible game via strategic financial and business initiatives. This requires an outstanding combination of data-driven thinking to identify strategic opportunities, the creativity and passion to execute in player-centric ways, and the teamwork and influence skills to align with other hardworking and invested teams.

This person will have two main dimensions of responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Support game franchise’s major planning cycles, including Forecasts, Quarter and Month-End Closes, Annual Operating Plan and Long Range Plan that focus on growth and profitability

  • Be a strong financial steward for the responsible game, leading all aspects of cost management and budget development from production resourcing to marketing spend

  • Lead strategic and financial analysis to find opportunities to drive top and bottom line growth for the franchise. Partner with cross-functional teams to implement and report important metrics to execs

Business Strategy

  • Be an experienced resource on industry business practices in the genre of the franchise, including business models/performance, live services strategy, and product pipelines

  • Propose in and out of game initiatives to drive engagement, retention, and monetization; work with analytics to report out on performance

  • Increase the repeatability of our successes by sharing standard processes and lessons learned with other game teams

Requirements

The successful candidate must have the experience to drive the financial success of a sophisticated, high growth AAA franchise. In addition, they will possess absolute integrity. Aligned with the cultural values and business focus of Blizzard Entertainment and the broader Activision Blizzard family, qualified candidates must demonstrate the following traits:

  • Passion for and in-depth knowledge of Blizzard. Knowledge of the video game industry, especially in games with strong live services

  • 4-5+ years of finance experience

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, written and oral communications, team collaboration, adaptability to change, and analytical capabilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead sophisticated projects with diverse partners

  • Deep knowledge in the key performance metrics that drive game performance. Validated records of driving innovative initiatives to generate positive revenue growth

  • Prior proven experience in gaming, consumer software, or entertainment. Prior functional experience in finance, strategy, or product management

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $105,120.00 - $194,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
