Come be a part of the future of Diablo IV! This position will involve working in a cross-discipline team through the design, implementation and balance of monsters, bosses, creature behavior, attacks, and powers. The ideal candidate has experience in encounter (monster) design or combat design, a strong interest in critical thinking and analysis, experience bringing content to completion, boundless creativity, an understanding of visual aesthetics, and a passion for video games.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this position is Albany, NY or Irvine, CA.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the video game industry

  • Experience working with a cross discipline team

  • Extensive experience playing action-oriented RPGs

  • Experience working on a Live product

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • A demonstrable understanding of the role creature mechanics play in a combat model

  • Ability to sort through mountains of feedback and analytic data to identify areas to improve a live game

Extra Points

Experience

  • Experience as a System, Class, or Combat designer

  • Experience designing boss encounters in any game

  • Experience as an action-oriented encounter designer

  • Design experience on a multiplayer action game

  • Have taken work through the entire development process to ship

  • Non-design development experience (artist, programmer, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiar with high-level scripting languages such as Lua or Python

  • Deep knowledge of at least one well-known Game Engine

  • Experience playing games in the Diablo franchise

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
