The minions of hell are growing stronger... Join us as we write the next chapter in the Diablo universe! Diablo Immortal, a Massively Multiplayer Action-RPG mobile game set in the world of Sanctuary, lets heroes slay demons anywhere, at any time.

As an Associate Narrative Designer, you will collaborate with quest and systems designers on instructional and creative writing, dialogue, and text implementation. In addition, you will frequently be called upon to assist with editing, research, and intellectual property input. The ideal candidate is skilled in clear and concise writing, is very comfortable with inter-team collaboration, and has a passion for the world of Sanctuary.

Diablo Immortal is a full-fledged action RPG designed from the ground up for mobile. You will join a veteran team of developers with a shared vision to raise the bar of what a mobile game can be. If you can provide constructive insight and iterate on your work in the pursuit of quality, this is the role for you.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Albany, NY or Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore other possible options, including remote work arrangements

Responsibilities

  • Write and implement in-game instructions, tooltips, strings, lore summaries, and backgrounds

  • Write and implement high-quality storylines with interesting characters, text, and dialogue

  • Write and implement new items and cosmetics

  • Work with the quest & narrative design team to develop story arcs, monsters, subsystems, settings, and cinematics

  • Contribute to and maintain documentation for characters and lore

  • Review and provide feedback on in-game content

  • Work with the sound and voice team to record voiced dialogue

  • Perform editing tasks as needed

  • Communicate best practices for the Diablo IP to partners and stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in game development focused on the narrative aspects of a game.

  • A talent for writing spoken dialogue with emphasis on clarity, brevity, and characterization.

  • Experience with writing and dialogue editing within game or localization tools.

  • Eagerness to help develop processes that enable voice recording and worldbuilding across a rich game world.

  • Solid work ethic and ability to write and implement content independently.

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort with working on deadlines.

  • Aptitude for collaboration in a team environment.

Bonus Points

  • Strong familiarity with Diablo Immortal’s gameplay and systems.

  • Understanding and knowledge of the Diablo IP.

  • Experience in film, theater, or television narrative and script writing.

  • Experience working within a franchise that features dark or mature settings.

  • Experience working with voice actors and voice directors to help bring the most to a character’s voice and performance.

  • Successfully published writing work (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics).

  • Experience developing multiplayer open-world games or MMO experiences.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $24.04 - $44.47 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
