What We Need:

2K is looking for a Senior Manager, Global Brand Marketing to join its Core Games Team working with the Gearbox portfolio of projects, including the Borderlands and Tiny Tina’s franchises. Reporting to the Director, Global Brand Marketing, the Senior Manager will support the global franchise vision, contributing to the development, and prioritizing the execution of, insights-driven marketing strategies and plans that drive acquisition, engagement, and monetization opportunities for traditional and live-service AAA projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience executing blockbuster entertainment strategies and have experience managing and playing service-oriented products in gaming. From a place of both art and science the Senior Manager must enjoy working collaboratively to create innovative marketing programs with global cross-functional publishing teams, product development studios, and agencies, both internally and externally based on key consumer insights (product needs and wants) and established KPIs for the businesses.

What You’ll Do:

Global Marketing and Product Strategy:

  • Partner with Player Insights to represent the voice of the player to Product and Commercial partners within the business unit, identifying global audience needs and opportunities that will contribute to the player experience, and how we bring current and future products to market.

  • Partner with and consult product development teams to ensure products meet relevant positioning and RTB’s, are feature competitive and relevant.

  • In collaboration with the Director, Global Marketing Strategy, along with regional and cross functional teams, support the development of the marketing strategy, defining customer journeys, target audience prioritization, product positioning, brand partnership guidelines and activations, cross sell and upsell strategies, innovative ideas and key messaging and content plans.

  • Contribute to the development of multi-year franchise roadmaps that are player focused, meaning maximizing long-term acquisition, engagement, and retention, and ultimately enabling customers to become fans for life.

  • Support live service marketing and player engagement strategies with contribution to defining product roadmaps and marketing opportunities.

  • Partner and consult with Commercial teams on building and executing a catalog strategy in order to deliver annual revenue targets for the business unit

Campaign Management & Optimization:

  • Be player and channel first focused to help build product marketing and content plans that deliver the right message, at the right time and right place, taking care of the conversion channels and messaging as much as the brand channels and messaging. Every touch point matters.

  • Actively participate and drive the creative process, be a master at overall brief writing, distilling out all the noise to get to the single-minded proposition/story or ask, scoped according to both time and budget realities, and taking care for the executional teams that are often impacted by poor or last-minute briefs or changes to plans.

  • With guidance from the Director, Global Brand Marketing, and input from your Cross-Functional partners, define and initiate development of all core brand creative including all digital content, key art, packaging, advertising creative (digital and TV), trailers, social media, sales support materials, events/activations, web and point-of-sales materials, ensuring all needs are accounted for and delivered on time.

  • Contribute to defining key performance metrics that will determine what is working and what isn’t.

  • Continuously assess campaign performance assisting in leading marketing collaboration processes that evaluate our metrics, flagging opportunities / risks and drives solutions that foster continued positive player relationships, as well as business targets.

  • Incorporate best practices derived from analysis of in-game data, sale/financial metrics, brand/player data/results, communicating key takeaways to management and team, driving relevant actions to continuously optimize all marketing plans and actions globally and in territory.

  • Manage peer-level relationships with all internal and external stakeholder across studios, publishing, legal and all other cross-functional teams to ensure full team collaboration and alignment against the goals of the project.

  • Manage the brand marketing budget; Track and report on expenditures for the business to Director, Global Marketing Strategy.

Leadership, Collaboration and Communication:

  • Be an impactful influencer in a senior role with your direct team, cross functionally and cross regionally to add value to the product and business strategy, and drive excellence in campaign execution.

  • Regularly partner, present and report to studio leadership and 2K stakeholders on marketing campaign progress, including findings, results and recommendations.

  • Maintain constant contact with international marketing teams and territories regarding regional marketing approaches and insights.

  • Oversee and/or direct the tasks and progress of direct reports, weekly, if not daily, conducting meetings to touch base, observe, and provide guidance as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, communications or related field.

  • 6 - 8 years of experience in product marketing, marketing strategy, planning and execution, ideally within the video game and/or entertainment industry

  • A player-first mindset with a passion for video gaming. Knowing games, the global video game and entertainment markets, and player needs will be key to establishing a credible seat at the table to help inform and influence product development and ultimately define global brand strategies and growth opportunities for our franchises.

  • Minimum of five years of marketing management or product management in PC, Console or mobile gaming.

  • Have planned and executed creative marketing programs on blockbuster entertainment/gaming brands from inception to release and beyond with proven track record of success

  • Extensive experience marketing live service products and evolving campaigns to sustain product engagement over time.

  • Exceptional collaboration with excellent verbal and written communication skills, bringing a creative and solutions-oriented approach to the table in order to influence and impact a matrix organization across both departments and geographies.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where teams must be rallied to act and learn quickly.

  • Competence in handling multiple projects simultaneously with an adaptable approach to changing priorities.

  • Data-fluent, with the ability to translate insights into actionable initiatives, always optimizing and curious by nature, with a test/learn approach that isn’t afraid to try new things.

  • Proactive project owner, a critical thinker and problem solver championing the goal posts, and ensuring the team delivers together in a cohesive and timely manner.

  • Experience in budget management and understanding of profit and loss statements

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $137,000 and $175,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
