What We Need:

2K is looking for a Marketing Manager in Japan for our flagship title Civilization and exciting new mobile strategy titles. The ideal candidate has a strategic mindset and a proven ability to execute marketing campaigns. A passion for video games, and a strong interest in the Japan market is necessary to be successful in this role. The ability to build and execute Integrated Marketing campaigns that strengthen our brands, acquire users and have a measurable impact is key.

You are expected to learn our product and our competitors’ products; what they do today and what they plan to do in the future, to develop the most compelling marketing plans and actions. You will be responsible for inputting into the long term growth strategy of the titles you are responsible for and creating plans to engage and delight our players.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the marketing lead for Civilization and other titles as assigned and own ongoing Live service marketing activities throughout the title lifecycle

  • Responsible for creating the Integrated Marketing plan based on product insights and market knowledge for Civilization and other titles as assigned

  • Be an expert on our player - who they are, their needs and passions and how they buy to craft the marketing strategy and execute the plan

  • Definite key performance metrics for assigned titles

  • Track performance and ROI measurement for each channel and campaign, and create recommendations for performance improvement

  • Ability to explain local insights or business rationale in the form of business case, PowerPoint presentation, e-mail and group call to regional stakeholders outside of Japan

  • Be an expert on our competition, how they are positioned and what opportunities we have for differentiation

  • Manage marketing agencies and vendors. This will include briefing, project management, quality control and evaluation

  • Collaborate with Rest of Asia marketing teams for shared learning and joint projects

  • Develop budgets for your assigned titles and identify ways to optimise budgets as campaign performance is available

  • Read and analyse industry news to stay informed of trends and topics that could affect our titles as well as demonstrating an ongoing interest to learn about gaming and entertainment

  • Other tasks as required by the marketing team

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in gaming with experience supporting Strategy games

  • High passion for video gaming or a desire to learn the gamer’s profile

  • Experience including Integrated Marketing plan development and execution of paid, owned and organic channels

  • Be player and channel-first focussed to build marketing plans that deliver the right message, at the right time and right place, taking care of the conversion channels and messaging. Every touch point matters

  • Enjoys problem solving and thinking creatively and introducing new ideas to solve challenges

  • Understanding of Japanese user-behaviour based on platform and genre or strong interest to learn

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with a test and learn mindset and ability to listen and act quickly

  • Enjoys managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide visibility, transparency and alignment on marketing plans and actions. This role requires daily cross functional collaboration and the need to influence stakeholders

  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to prioritise projects to meet deadlines

  • Experience managing project marketing budgets including reporting on spend to Senior Manager and ROI analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Points

  • Basic verbal and written communication skills in English is desirable but not a requirement

  • Passion for Strategy genre ideally Civilization and enthusiastic about growing 2K’s marketing presence in Japan

  • Awareness of the importance of Live Services marketing as a revenue driver in gaming

  • Affinity and knowledge to Japanese subcultures ie: Anime, Manga, Pixiv, Cosplay, NicoNico
