EA has canceled Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars first-person shooter as it focuses on new company goals.
The details:
The project's cancellation was announced in a statement confirming significant layoffs at the company, with EA Entertainment president Laura Miele stating that Respawn will instead focus on Apex Legends and its Star Wars Jedi franchise.
According to Miele, the project was still in "early development" and the public knew little about it except that it was being built in Unreal Engine 5 and would star The Mandalorian. A job listing at Respawn also stated that it would be inspired by the Jedi Knight series.
Respawn is still developing new content for its popular battle royale Apex Legends while working on the third installment in the Jedi franchise, following the release of Jedi: Survivor last year. Bit Reactor is also developing a Star Wars strategy game with Respawn's assistance.
